Stop Heart Attacks Fish Oil Supplements
Reduce Death Rate in Heart Patients By 45% In a report released by the American Heart Association, fish oil supplements were shown to drastically reduce the risk of sudden death. The study consisted of 11,323 patients who had suffered a heart attack within the previous three months. All of the patients were told to eat diets rich in fruits, vegetables, olive oil and fish. One group of these patients was also given 1000 mg a day of a fish oil supplement. After only three months of fish oil treatment, there was an astounding 41% decrease in the risk of sudden death. At the end of the three-and-a-half-year study, those receiving the fish oil supplement were 45% less likely to die from a heart-related disease. The doctors who published this study stated that the reason fish oil prevented sudden death is that it lowered the risk of fatal arrhythmia. Most sudden death heart attacks are caused by a lethal fibrillation event, where the heart muscle beats wildly out of control and does not pump any blood. The only way of saving a person in a state of “ventricular fibrillation” is to immediately apply a “defibrillator” that shocks them back into a normal rhythm. Fish oil functions as an “anti-arrhythmic” agent to prevent lethal fibrillations. They have portable defibrillators now in some malls and airports. Avoid letting an amateur (or even a professional) try one out on you. Take your fish oil. And remember it needs to be pharmaceutical grade." Circulation. 2002;105:1897 Pharmaceutical company
manipulations Dr. David Williams, M.D., in his newsletter "Alternatives" describes a process by which companies now "ghostwrite" articles about "medical studies" on drugs conducted by their own in-house research staffs, and then submit the reports to outside physicians for review, whose names are then added on to the reports as authors, after which the reports are submitted for publication in medical journals in a kind of "information-laundering" scheme which creates the illusion of a legitimate peer-reviewed study. This, in effect, creates a level of confidence and comfort which allows physicians to prescribe the drug in question to their patients. This cleverly planned promotional campaign yields profits for the pharmaceutical companies while unsuspecting doctors sell and their trusting patients buy in, while becoming true guinea pigs for the latest pharmaceutical poisons on the market. (All drugs are poisons.) This new practice was exposed in a story on CBS that most of us probably missed. Federal Guidelines
for Managing Cholesterol via Pharmaceutical Industry"guidance and
help" Translation: Under
the old guidelines, 13 million people were pushed into using cholesterol-lowering
drugs. Under the new guidelines, 36 million people are becoming consumers,
which means BILLIONS of dollars for pharmaceutical companies. Dangerous Cholesterol-Lowering
Drugs Lovastatin & Pravastatin drug studies: interruption of the body's natural production of the all-important coenzyme Q10. Consumers need to supplement with 30-100 mg per day. Cholestyramine: gastrointestinal problems, constipation along with nausea and bloating, inhibited absorption of of various fat-soluble vitamins like A, K, and D which can lead to night blindness, prolonged or unusual bleeding and bruising, an increase in triglycerides, and osteoporosis. The drug can also cause severe reactions when used with other families of drugs including blood thinners, thyroid hormones, diabetes, and heart medications. Dietary Cholesterol
Falsely Accused Taking the above-mentioned manmade non-foods out our of our diets and adding vitamin B3-Niacin will reportedly help the bad cholesterol problem, because niacin is one of the few substances that can elevate the good cholesterol and lower the bad cholesterol, lipoprotein(a), triglycerides, and fibrin at the same time. Some sources say to use three other B vitamins, also--B6, B12, and folate (folic acid). My naturopathic physician stated that the best source of B vitamins is nutritional or Brewer's yeast, found in most health food stores. She advises patients to avoid vitamins in pill form in all cases except in situations of extreme stress when extra vitamin C is needed (but in natural form, not laboratory-produced ascorbic acid.) If you want to read about how most of the false information linking dietary cholesterol from natural sources to blood cholesterol levels, read the report on the following link, and prepare for an appalling story of fraud, lies, and deception on a big scale: http://www.oralchelation.net/heartdisease/ChapterFour/page4.htm In fact, the whole website above has a wealth of information by a researcher who spent years just gathering information to get at the truth. He sells chelation materials, but this is a viable treatment for clogged arteries, as long as supplemental minerals are taken with it to replace what is removed in the process. Cholesterol Absolute
Necessity for Good Health Bad cholesterol (LDL) does cause problems when out of balance with the good form. It can oxidize and damage arterial walls, which in turn can cause a buildup of mineral and fat deposits, potentially causing atherosclerotic blockages. The best way to prevent this type of oxidation is to raise the good cholesterol levels and lower the bad cholesterol--but not by the use of dangerous drugs. Lifestyle factors: diet, useful supplements, and exercise provide the kind of help that makes a real difference. Cholesterol-lowering drugs have not protected the public from disease and death. Statistically speaking they are both ineffective as far as preventing heart attack and stroke, and dangerous. Lifestyle, as described above, can make the difference. From:
Kimberly D. Balas, PhD, ND (Private email to Rita Solk) It was earlier this year. The main job of cholesterol is to bind with environmental toxins so they don't kill you. It protects the nerve and brain against exposure to these as well as heavy metals. That is why the LDL goes up. Carbohydrates also raise this level too. When there is a presence of chronic inflammation (elevated monocytes, eos, baso, CRP, A/G ratio, ALT, AST, Free Ca index, total protein, cortisol and alkaline phosphotase low) then this is more of your indicators for cardiac risk or heart disease. These are directly related to causing cholesterol to elevate. This is also an oxidative stress state. Cholesterol serves to provide a rendezvous point where free radicals can be neutralized by antioxidants. With the exception of the brain and RBC's, all cells in the body are capable of synthesizing cholesterol. In the cells it serves as a structural component in cell membranes and as a metabolic precursor to the synthesis of other sterols. In addition, about .05 g of cholesterol is converted into bile acids which is necessary for the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients. In the bloodstream cholesterol (carried by lipoproteins) acts as a rendezvous point for antioxidants and oxysterols (oxidized cholesterol). When cholesterol is too low (below 175) then there are fewer lipoproteins and fewer fat-soluble antioxidants for protection such as vitamin E, beta carotene and CoQ10. When cholesterol is low then the ability to transport cancer-fighting antioxidants to the tissues where they are needed is limited. If cholesterol is lowered via a low fat diet then the cancer risk rises because the antioxidant protection is reduced while the level of free radicals remains the same. It also provides a means by which fat-soluble toxins can be removed from critical binding sites such as the brain and nerves. Cholesterol also serves as a colloid stabilizer. It helps to prevent coagulation proteins from engaging in intravasuclar coagulation. It can, in times of trauma act as a life-saving function to stop any internal bleeding. This is a natural part of the fight or flight mechanism when cholesterol is raised by the body for a period of time. So when people are chronically in this fight/flight mode it can be falsely convinced to lay down more thrombus patches. But, only if the cortisol level stays high (like on A blood types) and the other chronic inflammation precursors are met by 85% or more. Elevated cholesterol (over 250) can indicate the lowest risk for cancer because the body knows how to protect itself. It also serves as protection from neurotoxins. So to get it down, don't just take something to stop the liver from producing it. Go to the root cause of why it is being produced. Try doing a Heavy Metal Detox and look and adding fiber to bind with these to carry them out. Also, maybe the body is fighting something to do with cancer and it needs help. Try the Para Cleanse with Paw Paw and Immune Stimulator for a while. If it is lowered by drugs then the risk for cancer goes way up as well as risk for stroke, suicide, neurotoxins affecting the brain, elevated mercury levels and cyclosporin. Bad Fats Dr. Williams predicts that in the future, we will look back and see well-defined links between fake, manmade oils to the epidemics of cardiovascular disease and cancer. But for now, manufacturers continue to sell death and disease under the guise of "low cholesterol" fats. The only real antidote here is to change from plaque-forming to plaque-reducing dietary changes. Start by throwing out one of the most dangerous non-foods in the world--hydrogenated oil in whatever form or product you find it in.
Oils in nuts and grains (which includes corn) are protected against oxidation by nature. But as soon as the oils are extracted, they lose this protection and easily becomes rancid and can oxidize if exposed to oxygen. What happens then is a free radical, oxidative attack that creates the perioxidized fats that can cling to artery walls and is associated with immune suppression, blood clots, cell mutation, and cancer. The only antidote to this oxidation nightmare is the avoidance of any type of easily oxidized oils and increased consumption of antioxidants. In short, limit your fats to natural products like unprocessed nuts, fruits, grains, vegetables, fish, and the like. Avoid fried foods. Heat damages all oils. Extra virgin olive oil heated but not to the point of smoking is regarded as the safest oil to cook with. Polyunsaturated cooking sprays may be safer than bottled oils to cook with. Also, store your oils away from heat and light. Adding onions and garlic to oil before cooking with it provides some antioxidant protection. Do keep animal fats to a minimum. Don't keep old oil or re-cook with it. Cold-pressed, raw, extra virgin olive oil has proven in studies to lower the bad cholesterol oxidation rates substantially. (If you want to avoid bad olive oil and purchase the really good oil not found in stores and can afford the price, see olive oil scandal). If you must fry, a little real butter added to food after it goes in the pan may also be less dangerous than vegetable or solid oils. (Unless you have an all too common dairy intolerance.) Crucial B Vitamin Deficiency: Dr. David Williams, M.D. People are exercising like crazy, changing their diets, gulping supplements, and taking expensive drugs to lower their cholesterol. Yet none of this is making a dent in heart attack statistics. Why? Because high cholesterol doesn’t cause heart disease. Here’s what does and what cures it... Doctors are finally having second thoughts about cholesterol’s role in heart disease. The reason has been obvious for years. Cholesterol-lowering drugs have failed to make a dent in heart attack rates. And not one study has been able to show that these drugs do anything to lengthen a person’s lifespan. Yet, 20 percent of all Americans over 55 currently take a cholesterol drug and most M.D.s believe more people should be on them. But these doctors are barking up the wrong tree. Here’s why… Cholesterol is innocent I’ve been proclaiming cholesterol’s innocence since 1992, and plenty of convincing research confirms this. The real culprit is inflammation in the arteries, not cholesterol. Finally, the American Heart Association is beginning to agree. They’ve found that people with heart disease all have one factor in common, and it isn’t high cholesterol. It’s inflammation in their arteries. WARNING: Are you already on a statin drug to lower your cholesterol? You’re probably aware of the importance of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) for your heart. But what you may not know is that if you’re taking a statin drug to lower your cholesterol, your heart is being depleted of this important nutrient. CoQ10 supplies the energy for your heart’s pumping action. Studies overwhelmingly show that any and all statin drugs create dangerous CoQ10 deficiencies that can lead to heart failure. In a disturbing twist, I recently discovered that one of the leading statin manufacturers actually holds the patent on a combination that would add CoQ10 to their drug. They’re well aware of this deadly problem and have been for quite some time. These patents were issued over thirteen years ago …and yet not ONE of these protective combinations has been introduced! Are these really the people you trust to keep your heart beating? If you’re going to remain on a statin drug, the only way to protect yourself is to make sure you take CoQ10 supplements with your medication. I’ve included all the pertinent information in my Report, How to De-Plaque Your Arteries. The plaque-busting remedies in my Report will also help improve your numbers faster so your doctor can reduce your dose—or even eliminate it entirely. But given their bias against any vitamin therapy, doctors probably won’t advise this simple approach. Instead, their answer will be anti-inflammatory drugs, the next new “miracle cure.” Unfortunately, this approach will prove to be as misguided as cholesterol medications were. The real solution to heart disease The real solution is to halt the causes of inflammation, one of which is homocysteine, a harmless acid-like waste product that forms when you eat red meat and other protein foods. Homocysteine is quickly broken down by certain B vitamins, so it isn’t usually a problem. But if a person isn’t getting enough of these B vitamins (a widespread and disturbing problem in our country today), then homocysteine builds up to dangerous levels and “burns” the delicate tissue of artery walls. Plaque is then formed at the site of this inflammation as the body attempts to heal the damage. How dangerous is this? Studies show that a high level of homocysteine is one of the most dangerous risk factors for heart disease. It increases a person’s risk of heart attack by 300 percent! If you’re thinking a little extra B-vitamin intake would correct the problem, you’re on the right track. That’s exactly how some alternative M.D.s handle the problem. Studies as far back as 1988 show that this B vitamin lowers homocysteine levels back into the safety zone in just weeks. It has an 80% success rate. And the cost is about 5 cents a day. The secret thyroid connection But if you’re a good detective (and I think you are), you’re probably wondering what’s causing this B-vitamin deficiency in the first place? Closer investigation reveals that an underactive thyroid gland is at the root of the problem. This malfunction inhibits the absorption of B vitamins, causing homocysteine levels to skyrocket. The connection between the thyroid and heart disease was first mentioned in the 1976 book, Solved: The Riddle of Heart Attacks, by Dr. Broda Barnes. His research was largely ignored by the medical community, until the release of a study in 1999. At the Cleveland Clinic, researchers corrected the thyroid function in patients and saw homocysteine levels normalize on their own—without any need for vitamins. Very few doctors, alternative or otherwise, are making this connection. But I believe if and when doctors get to the root of this problem, heart disease will nearly vanish. But that’s not all. An underactive thyroid and B-vitamin deficiency cause other health problems, too. It has been linked to Alzheimer’s... depression...and memory loss. Further symptoms include: Decrease in sexual desire (especially in males)...Obesity and weight-gain (because fats aren’t being metabolized adequately)...Cold hands and feet ...A weak immune system (making you more vulnerable to colds, flu, respiratory infections, and cancers)...Constipation...and Allergies, among others. The common cause of many health problems Sound familiar? You’re right again. These are the very health problems driving Americans to doctors in droves. Yet hypothyroidism is often missed and misdiagnosed these days. Most physicians usually treat these symptoms as individual problems. Modern medicine has become so “specialized,” doctors no longer see the forest for the trees. It may seem incredible that one tiny gland can cause so many problems. But when you realize how crucial the thyroid is to so many important bodily functions, it begins to make sense. The truth is, we’ve got an invisible epidemic on our hands. Millions of Americans have malfunctioning thyroids without even realizing it. Symptoms are so commonplace, they’re considered “normal.” But it will be years before doctors catch on. What’s causing the problem? Three significant agricultural changes that have occurred in our country over the past 50 years are creating mineral deficiencies in our food supply, which in turn are causing widespread thyroid dysfunction. (One of those minerals, iodine, is absolutely essential to thyroid health.) My Special Report, The Hidden Cause of Heart Disease—And Its Easy Cure, describes each of these changes and explains how you can easily correct their effects. Neither a doctor’s visit nor a prescription are required—you can cure this on your own. Here’s how… Check your thyroid. There’s an easy test that quickly reveals if you have an underactive thyroid. You can do it at home. All you need is an ordinary thermometer and a few simple directions that are spelled out in my Report. You’ll get an immediate answer. How to correct the problem. There are two simple remedies to make your thyroid function normally again. Both are described in my Report. They’re easy, inexpensive, and produce fast results. I’ll provide complete directions. Results are quick and impressive Many people are delighted to find that, once their thyroid is fully functional again, they begin to lose weight…experience less depression…have a stronger sex drive…and suffer fewer colds and infections. Most see significant improvement within a few days! High Homocysteine Levels Corrode Arteries Like a Rusty Pipe ALL-NATURAL, NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

In final stages, almost a return to infancy, communication is almost non-existent and previously non-expressed anger can explode on family members and close ones for no apparent reason. Feeding and elimination procedures become highly compromised except under constant supervision. COMMON CAUSES: Poor or obstructed circulation is the first stage of creating this problem. If highly oxygenated blood cannot reach the brain, it very quickly declines in health like any other tissue, but in the case of the brain, with severe implications. Atherosclerosis, anemia, decreases in hormones, lack of basic daily exercise and supply of sufficient oxygen complicate the problem. Fluid accumulation in the brain, thyroid malfunction, high Aluminum toxicity from Tums, name-brand deodorants, aspirin, table salt which all contain high levels of Aluminum for buffering/release reasons are a common denominator in all dementia and Alzheimer's patients. Silver/mercury amalgam fillings in teeth that slowly seep into the blood and thus the brain exacerbate the Aluminum-Alzheimer's link. Inherited predisposition to mental illness, emotional shock and a high intake over the years of dairy such as milk, cheese, ice cream and butter also inflame the blood and add to the high fat contamination of brain tissues..." Connection There are several types of toxic buildups in the body that need to be dealt with to become healthy. As mentioned earlier, there is cellular toxicity primarily caused by the shunting of toxins into cells due to excess acidity in the blood. There is heavy metal toxicity coming from years of exposure to highly toxic heavy metals. While many come from the environment, silver amalgam fillings, many vaccines and some other drugs put mercury and other metals into our body. Most large fish have elevated mercury levels. Elevated levels of heavy metals disrupt the immune system and must be dealt with when fighting cancer. And then there is the toxic buildup in the colon of undigested foods and hardened fecal matter. Nutrient absorption is disrupted, and toxins sitting in that decaying mess are reabsorbed back into the body. This creates a constant stress on the immune system and a further load on the body's detoxification systems. Colon cleaning needs to happen on the journey to good health. Did you know that what's put in your water to purify it may be causing your cancer (and heart disease)? The French, with their lower cancer rates from consuming OPCs and resveratrol in red wine, have made red wine famous for its health benefits. There is another side to their low cancer rates though that most people don't know... The French do not drink chlorinated water. They ozonate their water to purify it. Does this make a difference? Absolutely. "We are quite convinced...
that there is an association between cancer and chlorinated water." We don't use chlorine because it's safe, we use it because it is cheap. We essentially still pour bleach in our water before we drink it. The long-term effects of chlorinated drinking water have recently been recognized. According to the U.S. Council Of Environmental Quality, "Cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine." It may cause much heart disease too. Dr. Joseph Price wrote a highly controversial book in the late sixties titled Coronaries/Cholesterol/Chlorine, and concluded that nothing can negate the incontrovertible fact, that the basic cause of arteriosclerosis, heart attacks and stroke, is chlorine. Dr. Price later headed up a study using chickens as test subjects, where two groups of several hundred birds were observed throughout their span to maturity. One group was given water with chlorine and the other without. The group raised with chlorine, when autopsied, showed some level of heart or circulatory disease in every specimen, the group without had no incidence of disease. The group without chlorine grew faster, larger and displayed vigorous health. This study was well received in the poultry industry, and is still used as a reference today. As a result, most large poultry producers use dechlorinated water. When chlorine is added to our water, it combines with other natural compounds to form Trihalomethanes (chlorination byproducts), or THMs. These chlorine byproducts trigger the production of free radicals in the body, causing cell damage, and are highly carcinogenic. "Although concentrations of these carcinogens (THMs) are low, it is precisely these low levels that cancer scientists believe are responsible for the majority of human cancers in the United States". The Environmental Defense Fund Dr. Robert Carlson, a highly respected University of Minnesota researcher, sums it up by claiming, "Chlorine is the greatest crippler and killer of modern times!" Breast cancer, which now affects one in every eight women in North America, has recently been linked to the accumulation of chlorine compounds in the breast tissue. A study carried out in Hartford Connecticut, the first of it's kind in North America, found that: Women with breast cancer have 50% to 60% higher levels of organochlorines (chlorination byproducts) in their breast tissue than women without breast cancer." It is not just drinking chlorinated water that is the problem. Up to two thirds of our exposure to chlorine is due to inhalation of steam and skin absorption while showering. A warm shower opens up the pores of the skin and allows for accelerated absorption of chlorine and other chemicals in water. The steam we inhale while showering can contain up to 50 times the level of chemicals than tap water due to the fact that chlorine and most other contaminants vaporize much faster and at a lower temperature than water. Inhalation is a much more harmful means of exposure since the chlorine gas (chloroform) we inhale goes directly into our blood stream. "Showering is suspected as the primary cause of elevated levels of chloroform in nearly every home because of chlorine in the water." Dr Lance Wallace, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. If you take showers using chlorinated water and are dealing with cancer, clearly installing a shower filter to dechlorinate your shower water makes good sense. It is the buildup of toxins in the body that blocks cell oxygenation and leads to the development of cancer from low oxygen levels in cells. The key is to protect your cells by making sure you are taking plenty of antioxidants, stop drinking chlorinated water or taking showers in it, and get rid of the buildup of toxins in your body using safe and natural detoxifiers. Several will be mentioned later on in this report. pH: Alkalize or Die,
The Critical Effects of Acidity Exerpt--"Importance of Healthy pH in the Body The scale that is used for measuring the pH, or hydrogen ion concentration … is from 0 to 14, with 7 being the neutral point. Below 7 is acidic; above 7 is alkaline. The optimal ph of the body's fluids, such as the blood urine, is 7.4, slightly alkaline. Outside of this range … the body activity is no longer optimal and the metabolism is out of balance. The pH of the body is largely influenced by metabolic byproducts and our diet. Thus, pH is directly affected by the various categories of food that we eat and the internal mechanisms involved in their processing. Some foods that are acid in their composition can become alkalinizing following metabolization by the body, such as lemons. Accordingly, it is to become more aware of the impact that various foods and our eating habits have on the internal environment of the body. An acidic system mean oxidation which means decay Excess acidity causes numerous disturbances such as: * Weakening of the skin, hair,
nails, teeth, bones Interesting Facts About Life And Alkaline pH In a free range chicken, the white of the egg has a pH of 9 (highly alkaline). The yoke of the egg has a pH of 6.5 (slightly acidic). The white of the egg with a pH of 9 … acts as a protective cloak … shielding the yolk from bacteria, viruses, and fungi. While it’s structure, bearing the Hydrogen Matrix, brings forth life and participates in the millions of cells forming the body of the new baby chicken. Like the egg … when the fluids of the human body are maintained at a healthy alkaline level (7.4) … it protects the body from bacteria, viruses and fungi … as well as bringing forth the life-giving form inherent within the hydrogen matrix. I know that might sound a little "new age" to some of you, but keep in mind that God is a God of order." The Sugar Connection
to Cardiovascular Disease Studies at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Human Nutrition Center in California proved that even moderate sugar intake reduces the level of beneficial HDLs, and that eliminating sugar can help lower cholesterol and triglycerides, especially in men who experience trouble digesting carbohydrates. (Human Nut: Clin Nut 85;39C:389) According to a report in Lancet, researchers at the University of London reported the connection between heart disease and sugar. They found that all cholesterol patients had a high intake of carbohydrates, but not necessarily a high fat intake. Sugar converts to fat, which raises the level of blood fats and it also disrupts the production of beneficial intestinal bacteria, which can indirectly raise blood cholesterol levels, reports Dr. David Williams. Potentially worse is the fact that refined sugar can cause the release of excess insulin. It grabs sugar out of the bloodstream quickly, but remains circulating in the blood for hours longer. According to Dr. Williams, insulin is now believed to cause cholesterol and other fats to be deposited in the walls of blood vessels. That would explain why insulin-dependent diabetics develop serious cardiovascular problems, while others who control their disease with diet, don't. Good Foods The incredible, edible egg: studies have now proven that moderate consumption of eggs has little influence on cholesterol levels, in spite of the earlier campaign against all foods with natural cholesterol. Even better, combine a low-fat, high-complex carb, high fiber diet and no bad effect was seen. (British Medical Journal, Vol 294, Page 333) In fact, egg yolks contain beneficial choline, which keeps fat and cholesterol dissolved and flowing through the bloodstream instead of attaching to arterial walls. Choline is a component of lecithin, a beneficial supplement for that reason. Making fat and cholesterol soluble prevents blockages and clots. Eggs are also rich in minerals, vitamins and essential amino acids. Now omega-3 eggs are available (fed flaxseed), and free-range eggs, which are far better than eggs from commercially housed chickens. However, eggs are one of the most common food allergies (immune system) or food intolerances (digestive system, body chemistry), so you need to be certain that eggs or eggs in combination with other foods are not a problem. (See Dr. Harold Dick, food allergies,) Onions: while a high fat meal can cause blood cells to become sticky and thus more likely to cause clots and blockages, vitamins E and C can help counteract this effect, but a big dose of onions are even better. As little as two ounces of grilled onion with a fatty meal can reportedly counteract the fat. (Indian J Med Res 66;54[1]:48-53) Japanese researchers found that the sulfur in both onions and garlic help prevent blood clot formation. In a study conducted by Dr. Victor Gurewich of Tufts University, patients ate one raw onion per day. That raised their good HDL levels an average of 30%, which brought them all within normal ranges. To benefit from the sulfur, onions need to be raw. Cooking inactivates the sulfur molecule. (We eat raw onions in daily salads with spring lettuce, walnuts, avocado, garlic, and whatever vegetables are around, and coat all with extra virgin olive oil and good quality balsam vinegar which tames down all the ingredients.) Even half a raw onion a day will reduce your chances for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart attacks. Good HDL will rise around 30% eventually, but it takes several months for this event to happen. Fish & Fish Oil: According to recent studies, two ounces of fish per week can cut your risk of heart disease in half. (NEJM 85;May 9:[312]:1205) Fish oil can lower triglycerides and cholesterol levels. (Nut Reviews 85;43:268) It helps prevent the formation of abnormal clots and can even reduce angina pain and tissue damage caused by heart attacks and strokes. (Athero 84;50:3) (prostaglandins 80;20:[6]:1021) (Stroke 84;15:[1]:65) Earlier testing with fish oil showed little results when only 4-10 grams a day were used. Higher dosages need to be used to lower triglycerides and cholesterol levels. Oil capsules can be expensive. Dr. Williams advises just eating fresh boiled or grilled (not fried) fish during the week. He suggests fish like salmon or tuna. Spirulina: vegetarians can use this blue-green algae for the same effect. Flaxseed: excellent for high cholesterol and triglycerides, and for atherosclerosis, where the arteries are clogged. This can take the place of fish and fish oil, at considerably lower cost. To digest flaxseed, it needs to be ground in a coffee grinder right before using them (they spoil fast this way and need to be used up immediately) or it will pass right through the system whole. You need to drink more water with flaxseed, which helps with constipation, but without enough water can cause it. Omega 3 rich flaxseed oil can be used also (we use both, and keep the seeds in the fridge and the oil in the freezer). Take at least a tablespoon a day. It can be used in salads, put in protein or fruit drinks, or any other way you can think of. The best way is mixed with cottage cheese or another high-sulfur content food like tofu. Sulfur helps it dissolve and absorb better, and is the primary component of an anti-cancer treatment used by Germany's internationally-known cancer specialist Dr. Johanna Budwig. In the cottage cheese mix, it becomes a much tastier dish if you add crushed pineapple (in it's own juices) or another fruit for flavor. The same with tofu and oil--make it into a fruit slushy and the oil goes down much easier. We have even taken bread like toasted or fresh Ezekiel bread and dipped pieces in oil to eat unmixed. MSM (sulfur) capsules taken with the oil may have the same effect. Ground flaxseed is more easily digested and a rich source of other nutrients, but it takes a lot to get the benefits of the oil. Avoid flaxseed oil in capsules. It is too processed for much benefit. Silkworm Enzyme Dissolves Plaque Pineapple Enzyme Dissolves Plaque and Other Benefits Other Good Supplements The closer to food origins any supplement comes, the better. These are natural nutrient complexes, which are FAR better than isolated vitamins and minerals extracted from their natural form. Vitamins are synergistic, meaning they work in tandem with the food components they occur with. They are much better taken in whole food supplements which supply everything in it's proper form and ratios. If you take individual pills and are missing some key ingredient for digestion and assimilation, then they are of little or no value, and can even cause imbalances and other problems. The late Dr. Harold Dick considered vitamin pills to be "dangerous drugs" and advised against any use except for a special form of vitamin C he sometimes used in emergencies. He always said "eat the whole food." Whole food supplements might be even better, since the usually organically grown mix provides more than most people would normally eat. Vitamin B3 (Niacin/nicotinic acid): a superficial vasodilator that opens up blood vessels near the skin. In one study they started with 100 mg daily, and gradually increased that over a period of 12 weeks to 1,000-2,000 (1-2 grams) daily. The slow increase helped people adjust to the side effects (flushing/itching). Some other temporary side effects included headaches, nausea, diarrhea, and upset stomach which resolved in most of the patients, but not all. In the higher doses, over a period of several months, bad cholesterol lowered by 16% and good cholesterol increased by 41%. In lower doses--under 1000 mg--the results were cut in half. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): this is the ultimate heart protector. It helps in the production of cellular energy, of which the heart is the greatest energy-using organ. It is also a potent antioxidant. Liquid softgels are best. Dr. Williams suggests 30-60 mg per day. Vitamin C: the only antioxidant known that helps prevent and reverse heart disease. It has been shown to reverse atherosclerotic lesions in both animals and humans. Studies show positive effects in from 2-6 months using 11/2-3 g of vitamin C daily. It can lower total cholesterol, blood fats, triglycerides levels, and platelet adhesiveness while increasing the good cholesterol levels. It does have an effect on copper levels, which may need to be increased in dietary form. Lecithin: speaking in Celsius degrees, the human body is normally 37 C, and a chunk of cholesterol needs a temperature of 149 C to melt. To unstick it from your arteries, it has to be dissolved and liquefied, which only happens where there is enough lecithin in your bloodstream to make it soluble. Once it liquefies, it will go to the liver for excretion. That makes adding a daily dose of lecithin to your diet essential, if you have clogged arteries. If not in egg yolk, then in supplement form. Unfortunately, lecithin can't be patented so the drug companies and media controlled by drug money do not endorse the use of lecithin for this purpose. No profit, no promotion.
