SUBJECT: DIFFERENT METHODS OF DEALING WITH PAIN
The first major experience with pain came just before the late, very brilliant naturopath, Dr. Harold Dick, ND saved my life. Stage 2 stomach cancer, arthritis, ovarian cysts, bronchitis and sciatica made life nearly unbearable when it came to the pain, which became nearly constant at the last. Diagnosis of digestive enzyme deficiency food intolerances through the Carroll Food Test, something almost everyone has and few know about, turned into "step one". Eliminating foods that were poisoning me because they weren't being completely digested and assimilated meant reducing inflammation, infection, toxicity and the resulting pain. "Step two" of that stage came after I started treatment--Constitutional Hydrotherapy--needed to jump-start my immune system, increase blood circulation and speed up the healing process. During treatment as my body got stronger, I went into a spontaneous detoxification where my body "cleaned house" and threw off it's accumulated toxins and debris--a necessary part of the healing process. After 5 weeks of treatment, along with tissue salts and glandular protomorphogens, all of the mentioned conditions and a few others were gone, along with the pain. I soon discovered that if I cheated with food, ate what I knew my body couldn't properly digest accidentally or on purpose, the first result was pain. Nerve pain, joint pain, muscle pain and then usually flu-like or cold symptoms. Sciatica was the one thing that kept coming back, also, but only as a result of food errors that caused inflammation and swelling.
There was another long-term cause of pain which I originally believed was work-related. I worked as a free-lance scrimshaw artist for many years, and I had chronically re-occuring pain in the neck and shoulder that I believed was caused by the stress of bending over and applying pressure as I was engraving sometimes rock-hard fossil ivory. Sometimes the pain was so bad I couldn't sleep, and for years I went to a chiropractor for relief but it kept coming back.
Twenty years after being healed of serious disease by the naturopath, I got sick again this time with an entirely different set of problems stemming from long-term unrelieved stress. My adrenals started to fail, and that affected the thyroid. Adrenal exhaustion affects all the systems of the body. That caused sluggish liver function which led to liver congestion. At one point I began a protocol to detoxify my liver and gallbladder (flushes), but that required doing a parasite cleanse treatment first. On the last day of the parasite program, the excruciating neck and shoulder pain ended and has never returned. I've since read accounts claiming that upper back and neck pain is commonly characteristic of the parasites most of us harbor, although it can obviously occur anywhere in the body but I wouldn't have believed it in my case if I hadn't have experienced immediate and permanent relief first hand. The work may have aggravated it but it wasn't the underlying cause, because I continued to work after that with no ill effects.
Another source of pain (and itching) during the period of time my adrenals were floundering came from the worst case of hives I've ever heard of. I had them from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet (urticaria) along with a second form that affected my eyes and mouth. On several occasions my tongue swelled up and my throat swelled almost shut. My second naturopath, Dr. Letitia Dick, ND explained that the hives were caused by the liver congestion, so I did several liver-gallbladder flushes, to expel stones and debris from rom both organs. The first flush resulted in the elimination of many soft stones. That was also the end of 23 months of intense misery from hives except for one single flare-up much later.
As most people know, one of the worst kinds of pain a relatively healthy person can experience is the pain of an abscessed tooth, although truly healthy people probably don't get abscesses. I had terrific pain in several teeth an d thought I was looking at several root canal jobs I couldn't afford and didn't want. Unrelated to this situation--I thought--there was a tiny little bump beside my chin that wouldn't go away so I decided to treat it with BLACK SALVE I had on hand to see if there was any reaction. I wish I had kept a photographic account of this treatment like I did others. It went crazy, and a stange thick white foamy substance came out of this site unlike others. Even stranger, after the treatment the tooth pain was gone. It seemed to have drained out the abcessed teeth. I've never heard of black salve being used for anything like this, but it happened to me. Several years later I know have another single chronic abscessed tooth which flares up when a diet infraction occurs. First, I'm going to try MMS (Master Mineral Solution/Supplement aka Miracle Mineral Supplement or Solution) which targets pathogenic organisms like bad bacteria selectively, and as a last resort (because it looks awful during the treatment and leaves a scar), more black salve.
During the adrenal exhaustion phase, I had a serious back injury which later developed inflammatory arthritis at the injury site, which was my whole lower back. MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane, a sulfur-containing compound) and an exceptionally effective arthritis program effectively cured the arthritis and ended the pain from that condition, but then I was left with chronic pain from the injury itself which was later diagnosed as compression fractures that caused my lower spine to fuse, as well as causing a couple of bulging disks and problems with my hip joints. It was particularly bad at night, lying in bed. The one thing that stopped that pain was bottled ocean water, which helps to remineralize the body, balance mineral ratios which is very important (the ratio of one mineral to another), and to normalize the all-important pH of the body, because an unhealthy body is usually one that is too acidic where it should be slightly alkaline. Seawater stopped the pain. I was told by a doctor that the damage would be progressive, meaning getting worse with time. Instead, it's gotten better.
Recently, a friend of mine told me she had been waking up with all kinds of aches and pains...until she started taking vitamin D. Pills are never the best answer when there are better remedies like sunlight or fish oil, but for certain the experts are learning more and more about the functions and health benefits of vitamin D, and the disease processes involved with a deficiency state.
Healing Pain With Bioelectric and Auricular Therapy
By Darrell J. Stoddard Copyright 1996
pain and other diseases can be helped and
Note: This is the background and history that led to the discovery of "Biotape."
This essay presents what may be a breakthrough in the treatment of pain and other diseases. The paper will define what pain is, explain how the body heals pain, describe a new procedure for treating pain, and then verify the method with case studies from more than 13,000 treatments.
Doctors have been trying for more than 200 years to find out what causes pain without ever learning what pain is. If we don't know what pain is, all we can do is suppress symptoms and hope the body heals itself.
We give medications, that only mask the pain, suppress vital functions, or cause gastrointestinal bleeding. If we can't find anything wrong, we imply that the pain is in the patient's head or tell them they will have to learn to live with the pain. Others are sent to surgery or endless therapy that cost astronomical sums. After all this, the patient may be in worse pain than before we started.
Everyone knows that injury causes pain but what is the cause of pain when there has been no injury? Pain may continue long after an injury takes place. Why does it still hurt? What exactly is pain? How does the body heal pain? (Knowing that every cell is a tiny chemical/electric generator connected electrically to other cells, is necessary to answer these questions.)
We are aware of the sensation of touch because cells are pushed closer together. This decreases the electrical resistance between cells. Decreasing the electrical resistance increases the flow of electricity to the brain. The increased flow of electricity is what tells us we have been touched.
When something hits us, it sends a quick burst of electricity to the brain. If pain continues after the blow, it is because tissue has been damaged and electrical connections between cells have been broken. The brain senses the injury because of a signal from the damaged tissue to the brain. The pain signal, however, is not the pain! What the pain is, is broken or suppressed electrical signals between cells in the injured tissue.
What about pain that is not caused by an injury? Degenerative diseases, dehydration, inflammation, infection, ulcers, tumors, lack of minerals spontaneous fractures, allergies, etc. may also cause the electrical circuits to fail, even when there has been no injury. Whether it is the breaking of the electrical circuits from an injury or the failure of electrical signals for other reasons, the signal to the brain is the same. Both are interpreted as pain.
The failure of electrical connections between cells ("blockage of chi") is not only the cause of pain but all degenerative diseases according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. The theory is not so incredulous when we know that the brain works electrically and that we are "brain dead" when there is no more electricity going across our brain. All cells will die or become degenerate if electrical signals are broken or suppressed.
If pain is the breaking, suppression, or failure of the body's electrical circuits, how does the body heal pain? Pain is healed when the body reconnects the broken circuits. When we hit our thumb with a hammer, it hurts because electrical connections between the cells have been broken. It stops hurting when the body reconnects the broken circuits. This is the way the body heals pain and the only way we can heal pain -- by finding and by reconnecting the broken circuits that cause the pain.
Suppressing the pain signal with drugs is treating the symptom not the cause. The medication only masks the pain and does nothing for the broken circuits that cause the pain.
How do you find and reconnect broken circuits? An instrument that measures electrical resistance can non invasively detect where the circuits have failed. If the instrument also stimulates with the correct wave form, current and frequency, it is possible to reconnect the broken circuits. I have named this more discriminating method of electrical stimulation "Bioelectric Therapy" to distinguish it from "TENS" (transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation).
Everything I have said can be measured, quantified, and proven with simple electronic instruments on real patients. When there is pain, the part of the body that hurts always has more electrical resistance. This means the electrical signals between cells are suppressed. If you can restore the flow of electricity through the painful area, the pain will go away - often immediately. And if you can keep the circuits turned on, the pain will not return.
How do you maintain the flow of electricity ("chi" or "life force") so the pain does not return? Acupuncture can reconnect broken circuits. To keep the circuits turned on, Chinese Medicine provides another answer.
Auricular Therapy is done by finding and stimulating acupuncture points in the ear electrically, then by taping tiny seeds on combinations of the 136 points that have been identified in each ear. The constant 24 hours a day pressure from the seeds, stimulates corresponding centers in the brain to keep the broken circuits turned on. Healing is thereby achieved - in the same way the body heals pain." http://healpain.net/articles/hel-pain.html

It Is Better To Wet Your Pants Than Live With Chronic Pain,,,
( "The extra water you drink when you take a pill does more good than the pill" )
by Darrell J. Stoddard, Copyright 1998
"I couldn't walk across the floor for a hundred dollars a step when I first got up in the morning. My left ankle that I injured hurt so bad that I would nearly pass out if I put weight on it. Then after hopping around on one foot for awhile I was able to hobble through the day. The thing that made my injury even more distressing is that I am a pain specialist who had stopped the pain in more than 9000 patients and I couldn't help myself.
My regular morning runs that I had been doing faithfully for 26 years came to an end. The goal of running like my acquaintance Larry Lewis (who at 103 years of age ran six miles every morning before going to work) was now impossible.
I had my foot X-rayed. There were no fractures or broken bones. I tried my own treatments, Bioelectric and Auricular Therapy. It did nothing for the pain. I had orthodics made, had my ankle taped, did all of the exercises given to me by a podiatrist, injected my foot with vitamin B-6 and B-12, injected all of the trigger points with procaine. I took vitamins and minerals of all kinds, tried glucosamine sulfate, glucosamine hydrochloride, phenylalanine, blue-green algae, cod-liver oil, flaxseed oil and non-fat yogurt, pygnoginal, etc.
When all of the natural stuff failed, I tried aspirin, Tylenol and a number of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Some of these made the pain a little more bearable but when I stopped taking them the pain came back with a vengeance. I was obviously just masking the pain and making myself vulnerable for further injury. For nine months I tried everything ever heard of for pain short of narcotics. By now I was getting desperate. My goal and dream of running till I was 100 years old was now just that, only a dream. People were coming to me from all over the World to stop their pain and I couldn't help myself.
I read the book Your Bodies Many Cries for Water by F. Batmanghelidj, M.D. that I highly recommend. (Available from Amazon.com. Click on the link and type in book title to learn about purchase) I started drinking more water, or at least thought I was, but I wasn't consistent enough to help and my pain continued.
A patient of mine who was an engineer developed a water softener/ purification system that used potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride. They came to our house to test the water and do a demonstration. The demonstration included filling a bowl full of water and showing how much chlorine was in it. I then was instructed to immerse my hand in the water and stir it for five minutes. After stirring the water, it was again tested and the chlorine was all gone. I was told that the chlorine was absorbed by my hand and this is the reason I needed a whole house water conditioning system, not just the drinking water - because the chlorine which is a toxic poison would be absorbed into the body while taking a shower or a bath.
I told Dr. Remington with whom I work about the demonstration and he said, "Some of the chlorine may have been absorbed but most of it evaporated. That is why," he said, "you have to keep putting chlorine in a swimming pool, because it evaporates." He then added, "If you want to solve that problem, let your drinking water sit overnight without a lid on it and all of the chlorine will evaporate."
I started doing this and at the end of the day I could see how much water I did not drink. This routine reminded me to consistently drink more water. Lo and behold the painful foot that stopped me from running and crippled me for nine months got better.
Now each morning I can again go running like I did before the injury. Through the experience, I learned as much about stopping pain as I did in a lifetime of study. Dr. Batmanghelidj is right, when we are in pain our bodies are "crying for water." Besides having the pain in my foot go away, another interesting change came into my life, several times a day I have to run for the bathroom like a little child, something I haven't done for more than fifty years. One of these days I'm not going to make it, but it will be worth it."
I knew better. One of my father's favorite sayings was, "The extra water you drink when you take a pill does you more good than the pill."
J. Stoddard, Founder - Pain Research Institute
Here's how it works... when an area in your body has a predominantly negative charge, there will be decreased blood circulation to that area, resulting in lower temperatures and more alkaline tissues.
But if an area has a predominantly positive charge, it indicates over-acidity in the area. This is usually accompanied by excess acids in the tissues, along with swelling, heat, and pain. And this is where joint and muscle inflammation (like arthritis and tendonitis), and headaches come in. To relieve these conditions, you need to introduce negatively-charged particles (electrons) to the area. You do this with static electricity.
Think about it. As you walk across a carpet, the nylon fibers pick up and store electrons from your feet, leaving you "imbalanced." The when you touch a doorknob or other conducting object, you experience an electrical shock—that's what equalizes the charge in your body, resulting in you being balanced once again.
Your simple PVC pipe instructions
One of the easiest ways to create usable electrons (a.k.a., static electricity) to treat pain is with simple PVC plumbing pipe and a small piece of fuzzy material.
You can purchase PVC pipe from nearly any hardware store or plumbing supply company. All you need is an 18-inch piece of 1 1/2-inch pipe. Some plumbers would probably give you this scrap size for free. For the fuzzy material, one of the best seems to be that wild-looking polyester fake fur that's sold in fabric and craft stores.
To create the charge of static electricity, simply hold the PVC pipe in one hand and rub the fuzzy material back and forth along the pipe. Then move the charged PVC pipe slowly back and forth over the targeted area of your body, keeping the pipe about 1/2 inch to 1 inch from the surface of your skin.
It may sound crazy, but most people begin to feel relief within five to seven minutes. There's no set time for treating a problem, so you can treat an area as long as you'd like and as often as you need. It's simple, it does no harm, it's inexpensive, and it works." drdavidwilliams.comCapsaicin
One of the best instant pain relievers is capsaicin. This red hot pepper stops pain cold. Look for a high quality pain relieving cream or ointment that contains at least .025% capsaicin. It can really help with back pain, arthritis, and muscle aches.
There are some drawbacks, however. One is the burning sensation many people experience with capsaicin, the other is an unpleasant smell. While some people can tolerate the drawbacks in light of the great benefits, others can't.
I personally use and recommend Natural Pain Advantage, which along with capsaicin also contains essential oils and native Australian herbs. It's a fairly unique formula because it penetrates deep and works fast, but has a cooling sensation and nice lemon smell.
So you see, it doesn't always take a lot of effort, time, or money to deal with pain. And what's great about alternatives like PVC pipe and capsaicin is that they're simple and provide quick relief. I hope you'll remember these terrific treatments the next time muscle or joint pain flares up." --Dr. David Williams, M.D.
MSM Relieves Pain
Among the worst of these drugs are the pain relievers known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Used by millions of arthritis sufferers, these drugs relieve pain by blocking enzymes that cause inflammation. However, since these enzymes also help build cartilage, NSAIDs accelerate joint degeneration over time.
But NSAIDs don't just harm -- they kill. About 10 patients die every day due to gastrointestinal complications of these drugs. The majority of these patients are chronic pain sufferers over the age of 60.
So what should you
do to relieve your nagging pain? Look to nature for a safe, effective
Methylsulfonylmethane, or MSM, is a sulfur-containing compound that is present in the atmosphere, in plants, in animals and -- as was discovered a mere 40 years ago -- in the human body. According to Stanley Jacob, MD, the co-discoverer of MSM and the first physician to use this natural substance in the treatment of patients, MSM offers a natural way to reduce pain and inflammation without serious side effects. It is especially useful for chronic pain conditions, including arthritis, back pain, headaches, muscle pain, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and TMJ.
MSM blocks pain messages
that travel to the brain along nonmyelinated nerve fibers called C fibers.
This results in relief of the deep aching pain that is characteristic
of arthritis and other chronic conditions. But MSM alleviates pain in
other ways as well. It reduces the redness, swelling and heat associated
with inflammation, which in turn, relieves pressure on surrounding nerves
and other tissues. It also relieves muscle spasm.
If you suffer from
arthritis or chronic pain or are recovering from trauma or surgery, I
recommend a trial of MSM. Start with 400 mg daily, in divided doses, with
meals. This can be increased to 2,000 mg daily. MSM is extremely safe
and well tolerated, although some people report minor gastrointestinal
discomfort at higher doses.

According to Dr. James K. Van Fleet, D.C. who reports remarkable success with an arthritis program which includes the use of peanut oil taken internally and as a massage oil, when rubbed in and massaged, it apparently eases pain, helps arthritis, and stimulates circulation so that body parts and areas "pink up" with increased health, as a beneficial side effect to treating arthritic pain and inflammation. Use only raw, cold-pressed peanut oil from the health food store, unless available elsewhere. Hain makes a product that works.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil also works on pain and soreness--it has anti-inflammatory properties when massaged into the skin, as we discovered when trying it experimentally, and is reported to have beneficial effects on the skin when consumed as a food and used to massage the skin--DJT
